  1. 5.What is our Position on Compounded Hormones?

From time to time From time to time the practitioners at FWEndo

will recommend hormone replacement therapies customized for the individual

patient which are not manufactured by major pharmaceutical companies. This

does not in anyway mean that the quality is in anyway inferior or

substandard.

The clinic maintains a list of various compounding pharmacies

that we know  do an excellent job compounding hormone preparations. Patients

are encouraged to choose from this list or are free to take their

prescription to a pharmacy of their choice. Compounding pharmacies use only

FDA approved ingredients and they are formulated in such a way as to promote

optimal absorption either orally, through the skin or mucous membranes.

These compounding pharmacies are regulated by the State Pharmacy Boards and

have to pass rigorous quality checks to maintain their license.

Position on USe of Nutritional Supplements: The use of Nutritional

Supplements is incidental to our practice. These are meant to be Supplements

and not Substitutes for healthy eating habits. We recommend covering the

most commonly deficient nutrients in our patient population as consistent

with our philosophy of optimal health.

The office stocks a few key supplements from reputable manufacturers. They are made available to our patients for purchase. Fort Wayne Endocrinology does profit from the sale of these supplements. All of the profits from these sales are earmarked for funding medical students to conduct research in our clinic as well as

various community based health initiatives such as the building of "Aboite

Trails" which is a walkway in the community to encourage citizens to walk or

use their bike.

The section under "Research activities" lists all of the

research conducted by medical students under the Summer Internship Program.

We are very proud of their efforts and hope to continue encouraging our best

and sharpest minds.

Patients are encouraged to bring in the supplements that they are currently

taking to make sure there are no interactions or duplication.
